GUBERNACULAR SPARING LAPAROSCOPIC ORCHIDOPEXY FOR INTRA-

ABDOMINAL TESTICLE

Fahad ALYAMI, Paul R. BOWLIN and Walid A. F

THE HOSPITAL FOR SICK CHILDREN, UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO, UROLOGY, Toronto, CANADA

PURPOSE

Laparoscopic management of the intra-abdominal testis typically involves division of the gubernaculum and passage of

the testicle into the scrotum through a new inguinal hiatus. However, this approach can

compromise gubernacular blood supply and may predispose the patient to testicular atrophy.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

Video demonstrating techniques for performing two-stage laparoscopic orchidopexy with gubernacular preservation.

RESULTS

CONCLUSIONS

The laparoscopic two stage orchidopexy with gubernacular preservation is a safe, feasible, and effective technique
