AAP Urology Medal

The Urology Medal is one of the highest honors conferred upon pediatrics urologists. The award

is presented by the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Urology to individuals who have

made outstanding contributions to the field of pediatric urology.

Recipients receive a bronze medallion embossed with the Della Robbia – the swaddled baby

symbol that dates back to the Middle Ages when 8 larger medallions adorned the foundling

hospital Ospedale Delli Innocenti in Florence, Italy. The Della Robbia has been the official insignia

of the American

Academy of Pediatrics

since the early 1940s.
